William Heintz

Torrington, Connecticut

William Heintz, 77, of Torrington, CT, peacefully passed away at Hartford Hospital on May 28, 2021, surrounded by his family. He was the high school sweetheart and beloved husband of Sandra Heintz of 55 years.

Bill was born December 13, 1943, in Milwaukee, WI, the son of the late Clement and Dorothy Heintz.

In addition to his wife Sandy, he is survived by his son Kelly Heintz of Torrington, CT, his daughter Shannon DePaoli and son-in-law Michael DePaoli of Torrington, CT, his granddaughter Autumn Wilmot and great grandson Colton Wilmot of Torrington, CT, his brother Terry Heintz and his companion Patricia Luedtke of Hartford, WI, his brother Jack Heintz and his wife Barbara Heintz of Hartford, WI, his sister Marlene Wolf and her husband Larry Wolf of Hartford, WI, his brother and sister-in- law David Roskopf and Susan Roskopf of Hartford, WI,  his brother and sister-in-law Blaine Selsing and Rosemary Selsing of Slinger, WI, as well as several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews that he adored and, also his beloved canine companions Buddy and Sadie.

Bill moved his family from Hartford, WI to Torrington, CT in 1973 to open his still successful small business Automation Engineering Co. which is now run by his son Kelly Heintz. Before his semi-retirement he enjoyed working side by side with his son Kelly for many years.

Bill was an avid baseball fan and was the President of the Northwest Connie Mack baseball program as well as the coach for the Torrington Sports Palace team for over 30 years. He enjoyed giving kids an outlet and teaching them about teamwork and sportsmanship. He was awarded the Good Sport Award from the Connecticut Sports Writers’ Alliance for his unselfish dedication to community sports.

In his pastime he enjoyed spending time with his family, traveling, gardening and mostly spending time with his great grandson Colton.

There are no calling hours scheduled, however, a memorial church service will be held on June 9, 2021, at 10:30 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 837 Charles Street, Torrington, CT. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
