Richard C. Elliott, Sr., 70, of Torrington, CT, peacefully passed away at his home surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday, September 13, 2017.  He was the beloved husband of Mary Ann “Minnie” (Doyle) Elliott for 48 years.  A true love story, the two have been together since they were 14 years old.

Richard was born September 10, 1947, in Torrington, CT, the son of the late George and Irene (Hynds) Elliott.  He was employed as a letter carrier for the USPS.  He was a member of the Elks Lodge #372 where he also served as a bartender for many years, the Hibernian Society and the National Association of Letter Carriers. He coached his children in Little League and Babe Ruth Baseball as well as grammar school basketball at St. Francis School and was an usher at St. Francis Church.  An avid golfer, he also enjoyed the time spent with his family at Hampton Beach, NH, especially with his grandchildren Tanner and Chase.

In addition to his beloved wife, he is survived by two sons, Richard “Rusty” C. Elliott, Jr. (Stephanie) of Torrington, and Brian John Elliott of Enfield, CT; one daughter, Sarah K. Elliott of Windsor, CT and his aforementioned two grandsons.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, September 16, 2017, with the cortege leaving at 8:30 a.m. from Cook Funeral Home, 82 Litchfield St., Torrington, to St.. Francis of Assisi Church, 160 Main St., Torrington, CT for a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:00 a.m.  Burial will follow at St. Francis New Cemetery.  Calling hours will be held Friday, September 15, 2017, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Cook Funeral Home.
