Raymond Neag

Raymond Neag, 86, peacefully passed away Thursday, April 19, 2018, surrounded by family at his country home in Goshen, Connecticut. He was the beloved husband of Carole Neag, with whom he lived in Wyomissing, Pennsylvania. Ray, who grew up in Torrington, graduated Torrington High School, class of 1948. After serving in the U.S. Air Force, Ray earned a Bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of Connecticut in 1956 and a Bachelor’s degree in Foreign Trade from the American Graduate School of International Management. He is also a graduate of the advanced management program at Harvard University.

Ray will always be remembered for his charisma, positive outlook and intelligence. He was an avid reader, a world traveler and collector of stamps. Together with Carole, Ray was dedicated to helping others and was a philanthropic leader with a focus on Education and Healthcare. He leaves behind a legacy of support for many worthy organizations including the Neag School of Education at UCONN; the Carole and Ray Neag Comprehensive Cancer Center at UCONN Health Center; the Carole and Ray Neag Medical Center at Caron Treatment Center in PA; Penn State Health St Joseph Hospital; the Neag Planetarium at the Reading Museum; and the Carole and Ray Neag Performing Arts Center at the Warner Theatre in Torrington.

Ray had a long and distinguished business career with several leadership positions in the medical device industry. In 1975, Ray became one of four founders of Arrow International Inc., now Teleflex Medical, in Reading, Pennsylvania. He retired from the company in 1999 as Executive Vice Chairman.

In addition to his wife, Ray leaves behind his daughter, Elizabeth Lamoin and her husband Jim; and his son, David Hogan and his wife, Heidi and their daughters, Katherine and Emily; his brother-in-law Jack Vestali and his wife MaryAnn; his sister-in-law Elizabeth Neag; and an extended family with many loving nieces and nephews.  He is predeceased by his first wife, Lynn; his brothers John, Traian, Sevier, and Michael and his sisters Aurelia Haag, Mary Bellott, and Letitia Morgan.

Friends are invited to join the family on Monday morning April 23, 2018, from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at Cook Funeral Home, 82 Litchfield St., Torrington.  A Mass of Christian Burial will follow directly at St. Anthony of Padua Church in Litchfield at 11:30 a.m. with burial at Hillside Cemetery in Torrington.  A second memorial service will be held in Wyomissing, PA at a later date.
