Primo Zanderigo

June 19, 1924 — October 16, 2018

Torrington

Primo Zanderigo, 94, of Torrington, CT, peacefully passed away Tuesday, October 16, 2018, at his home surrounded by his family.  He was husband of the late Mary “Pat” (Beyus) Zanderigo with whom he enjoyed not only family but extensive travel in Europe and sun filled trips to the Cayman Islands.

Primo was born June 19, 1924, in Crystal Falls, Michigan, the son of the late Frank and Anna (Costalunga) Zanderigo.  He served his country during World War II, with the US Army.  Among the awards and decorations, he received upon his honorable discharge in January of 1946, were the Victory Medal, Good Conduct Medal, European African Middle Eastern Theater Campaign Ribbon, and the Purple Heart.  He owned and operated Zanderigo’s Service Station, later Westside Package Store.  He was a member of the Torrington Elks Lodge #372, the Triangle Club and was an avid Bocce player.

Primo’s children and grandchildren were the pride and joy of his life. The legacy of Primo's kind spirit, enthusiasm for sports, love of sharing food with family, passion for music, and zest for life will live on through them. He is survived by two sons, Michael Zanderigo (Dawn) of Torrington, Greg Zanderigo (Nancy) of New Hartford, CT; one daughter, Lynn Florio (Steven) of New Hartford, CT; one brother, Louis Zanderigo of Torrington; one sister, Rose DeMure of Torrington; five grandchildren (Michael, Matthew, Liza, Jacob, and Eric) and one step-grandson (Chaz), as well as several nieces, nephews, and many friends. Finally, Primo will dearly missed by his long-time companion, Ann Devine, with whom he shared the last 14 years with love and joy.  He was preceded in death by one sister and brother-in-law, Enis and Anthony Cetra.

On behalf of Primo, the Zanderigo Family would like to extend a special thank you to all of his amazing caregivers and wish everyone “Scampo cent’anni!” [Live to 100 years]
