Nora M. (O’Leary) Brosnan, 89, of Torrington, CT, passed away Monday, December 7, 2020, at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital. She was the beloved spouse of Timothy Brosnan for 60 years.
Nora was born June 13, 1931, in Behihane, Castle Cove, Ireland, daughter of the late James and Mary (Sweeney) O’Leary. After arriving in the U.S. in 1949 she created an amazing life for herself, met Timothy in NY, and with hard work and much love they raised a family in Queens, NY and had many adventures together living in NY until two years ago when they returned to live with family in CT. In addition, she worked as a caregiver to numerous people over the years.
Nora is survived by her husband, Timothy, four daughters, Mary Carr of Lindenhurst, NY, Kathleen Gliganic (Robert) of Seaford, NY, Barbara Brosnan Rivera (Jaimmie) of Metuchen, NJ, Patricia Veneziano (Joseph) of Torrington, CT; one sister, Kathleen Galvin of Sneem, Ireland; eleven grandchildren (who were the light of her life): Elizabeth and Lindsey (Veneziano); Jennifer, William, Timothy, Karen (Carr); Ryan and Julia (Gliganic); Sean, Luke and Mairead (Rivera); and one great grandchild, Vega, as well as many nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, December 15, 2020, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Peter (St. John Paul the Great Parish), 99 East Main Street, Torrington, CT 06790 and will be streamed live via Facebook on the St. John Paul the Great Parish Facebook page. All who are attending are asked to meet directly at St. Peter Church. There are no calling hours. Burial will follow at St. Peter Cemetery. Relatives and friends attending the Mass and funeral services must comply with CDC recommendations for COVID prevention by following social distancing and wearing protective facemasks.
