Mary T. (Frighetti) Balsamo

Mary T. (Frighetti) Balsamo, 93, of Torrington, CT, passed away Saturday, November 19, 2022, at Valerie Manor.  She was the wife of the late Anthony Balsamo.

Mary was born May 27, 1929, in Torrington, CT, the daughter of the late Peter and Anna (Koczur) Frighetti.  She was employed by P. T. C. Aerospace for 27 years, until her retirement.  Mary was a NY Giants fan, and an avid UCONN basketball fan for both the men’s and women’s teams.  She enjoyed playing Bingo, building jig saw puzzles, trips to the casino, and scratch off lottery tickets.  She had a contagious laugh, a very big heart, and loved spending time in Vermont as well as everyone she met.  She will be remembered as an understanding, accepting and no judgement person with a kind heart.

She is survived by one daughter, Debbie Balsamo of Torrington, CT; one granddaughter, Stacey Carron of Colorado; one brother, Francis Mancini of Georgia, and a neighbor and dear friend, Janet Whiterock.  In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Theresa Balsamo, a sister, Rena Maffei, and her longtime companion, John Johnston.

Mary’s family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff at Valerie Manor for the care and compassion shown to her during her time of residence.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 2, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. at Cook Funeral Home, 82 Litchfield St., Torrington.  Relatives and friends may call on Friday morning from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11:00 a.m.  Burial will be private.
