Margaret “Peggy” (Sampson) Carcano, 90, of Torrington, CT, passed away Sunday, December 15, 2019, at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital. She was the wife of the late Joseph Carcano, Sr.
Peggy was born May 2, 1929, in New York City, she was the daughter of Margaret (Healy) Sampson. She was employed by the Torrington Company for 25 years, retiring in 1991. Competitive by nature, she loved to play cards, and always compassionate with her family, her most joyful times were shopping and spending time with her granddaughter, who was her pride and joy. She was a member of the Torrington Company Salary Retirees, and a livelong communicant of St. Peter Church.
She is survived by a son, Joseph Carcano, Jr. and his wife Mary of Morris, CT; a daughter, Lisa Hall and her husband Gerard of Torrington, CT; a brother, Charles Sampson of Knoxville, TN; a sister, Virginia Romano of Winsted, CT; a granddaughter, Maria Sok; a special niece, Valerie Romano, as well as several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brother, Arthur “Artie” Sampson on December 2, 2019.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, December 18, 2019, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Peter Church (St. John Paul the Great Parish) 99 East Main Street, Torrington, CT. Relatives and friends are asked to meet directly at St. Peter Church. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, December 17, 2019, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Cook Funeral Home, 82 Litchfield St., Torrington, CT.
