Lillian A. (Caruso) Mascetti

Lillian A. (Caruso) Mascetti, 80, beloved wife, mother and grandmother passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 27, 2020, after a long struggle with cancer, at home with her family by her side.

Lillian was born April 2, 1940, to Ralph and Mary (Reznicak) Caruso in Bronxville, NY.  She was the beloved wife of Raymond W. Mascetti for 56 years.  Lillian graduated from Sacred Heart Grammar School and Torrington High School, class of 1958.

Besides her husband, Raymond, Lillian is survived by three daughters; Lisa DeLorge and friend Robert Sardilli of Torrington, CT, Christina Bator and husband John of Bedford, NH, Nina Mascetti-Johnson and husband Michael of Torrington, CT; five grandchildren, John Bator, Tiana DeLorge Hawk and husband Adam, Stephen Bator, Isabella Johnson and Blaise Johnson; one brother, James Caruso of Clermont, FL; a sister-in-law Marie Mascetti Young of Torrington, CT, as well as several nieces and nephews.  Lillian was predeceased by one brother, Theodore Caruso.

Lillian was an art teacher at the Connecticut Junior Republic, Litchfield, CT for twenty-five years.  She served as a Eucharistic Minister at St. Peter Church for twelve years and as a first grade Sunday school teacher for ten years.  Lillian was a member of the St. Peter Holy Rosary Society.

She crocheted many baby afghans for the Holy Rosary Society’s Penny Auction and made well over fifty afghans for family, friends, and charitable organizations though the years.  She was most relaxed reading and spending time in the sun at the beach.  Lillian’s Italian and Slovak heritage was reflected in her cooking and baking, which she enjoyed making for family and friends.  She was a master at making soups.  May she rest in the peace of our Lord.

Private funeral services have been entrusted to Cook Funeral Home.
