John E. Garrison, Sr.

John E. Garrison, Sr., 86, of Torrington, CT, passed away Tuesday, October 19, 2021, at Hartford Hospital.

John was born June 4, 1935, in Winsted, CT, the son of the late Arthur J. Garrison and Loretta M. (Speed) Gingell.

He served his country with the US Marines, entering during 1953 and honorably discharged during 1955.  He returned home and married his wife Raffaela Cardillo Garrison during 1956 and they started their family. He was employed by George’s Tire Shop until his retirement.

He is survived by six children John Jr. (Martha) Garrison of Torrington, Nicholas Garrison of Torrington, David Garrison and partner Channea of Torrington, Vicki (Brian) Dings of New Hartford, Paula Garrison and partner Rick of Torrington, Gina Garrison and partner Anthony of Torrington, as well as one sister, Cheryl Mangini of West Hartford, CT.  He is also survived by fourteen grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, his beloved dog, Harley, and his beautiful and amazing caregiver, Nadine, who was like family.

Graveside funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 28, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. with full military honors accorded at Forest View Cemetery, Rowley St., Winsted, CT.
