James S. Reichenberg

July 17, 1929 — October 9, 2020

Torrington, CT

It is with deep regret that we share the passing of our husband and father, James S. Reichenberg.  Born to Jacob and Virginia Reichenberg on July 17, 1929, he was the eldest of seven children.  He attended Torrington schools and served in the United States Air Force from 1950 to 1954.   After meeting his future wife, Edith Marcon, during the Flood of 1955, they married in 1956 and celebrated 64 years on June 2, 2020.  His career goal was to become a Connecticut State Trooper and he accomplished that goal in 1964, proudly serving for 22 years.  His greatest joy in life was lived through the eyes of his children and grandchildren.  A loving and devoted husband and father, he is survived by his wife, Edith and his children, Heather (Raymond) Turri, Brad (Gine) Reichenberg and Heidi (Billy) Shemms as well as grandchildren Ryan (Abigail) Turri, San Francisco, CA,  Eric (Sarah) Turri, LaJolla, CA, Ariana Shemms, Las Vegas, NV and Zachary Shemms, Goshen, CT.  He also leaves his sisters Frances Santo, Old Saybrook, CT, Bette Ann (Dave) Longobucco, Madison, CT, Virginia Lestinsky, Tennessee and brother John Reichenberg, Naples, FL.  He was predeceased by sisters, Katherine Clark and Patricia Mistretta.

The family would like to thank the caring staff at VNA Northwest Foothills VNA, Hartford Healthcare at Home.

All services will be private.
