Eric Walter Carlson

September 29, 1941 — June 10, 2021

Harwinton, Connecticut

Eric Walter Carlson, 79, of Harwinton CT passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 10th, 2021.  He was the husband of the late Lynn (McPhail) Carlson who preceded him in death in 2016.

Walter was born September 29, 1941, in Hartford, CT, the son of the late Evald and Greta (Ericsson) Carlson. He was a machinist by trade who owned and operated Parcar Inc. until his retirement in 2018.

Together, Walter and Lynn meticulously planned and built their dream home over the course of seven years.  Walter completed most of the work with Lynn his trusty carpenter’s helper.  He had a passion for maintaining the yard, building hundreds of feet of stone walls and enjoying the nature that surrounded him.  He never met a tree or a stone he did not like, and his children and grandchildren spent many hours hauling stones to “just the right spot”.

He is survived by two daughters, Karin Carlson (Cliff Shore) of Fort. St. John, British Columbia, Tamra (Craig) Wallace of Burlington, CT and one son, David (Elizabeth) Carlson of Rehoboth, MA.  Walter was a Morfar to Tristan Wallace and Farfar to James, Christopher and Michael Carlson.  He is also survived by his brother Roy (Susan) Carlson of O’Fallon, IL. and two nieces and one nephew.

A celebration of Walter’s life will be held September 18th, 2021.  All family and friends will be welcomed to attend.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Harwinton Land Trust at http://harwintonlandtrust.org .
