Dr. Alfred C. Moraski, Sr.

Dr. Alfred C. Moraski, Sr. of The Villages, Florida and formerly of Goshen, CT, died peacefully in Florida on June 29, 2019 . He was the beloved husband of Joan (Benisch) Moraski for 38 years.

Al was born January 28, 1928, a son of the late Mitchell and Margaret (Zoleski) Moraski.

Al served in the United States Navy during peace time right after World War II and got to see much of the world during his service time.  While in the Navy he worked in the dental office on board the ship which led to his career choice.

After the Navy he received his Bachelor’s degree from UCONN and his DDS from Temple university Dental school. He put himself through college with the GI bill and painted houses, a trade he passed on to his son Al, Jr.

He had many interests, he enjoyed golfing with friends at Torrington Country Club, playing gin with friends at the Torrington Elks, and he especially enjoyed playing basketball with his noontime friends at the Torrington YMCA

Enjoyed hiking, deep sea fishing taking many trips to Alaska with his good friend Jack. An avid UCONN Men’s and Women’s basketball fan and he attended many games each season.

More than anything he enjoyed spending time with his son and daughter especially with his granddaughter Jill, who when he saw her his face would light up each time they were together.

He lived life to the fullest, enjoyed many adventures and has now moved on to his next adventure being reunited with his son Michael, brothers, sisters and many friends.

In addition to his wife Joan, he is survived by his daughter Dyan Moraski of Newington CT,  his son Alfred C. Moraski, Jr. of New Hartford, and his partner Ann, a daughter in law Jayne Moraski of Torrington his granddaughter Jill Moraski of Boston, MA, and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his son Michael Moraski, and his siblings Frank, Henrietta, Vita, Martin, Irene, and Stanley.

Graveside services will be held on Saturday, August 24, 2019, at 11:00 am at St. Joseph New Cemetery, Torringford Street, Winsted. There are no calling hours. Arrangements have been entrusted to Cook Funeral Home, 82 Litchfield Street, Torrington, CT.
