Catherine J. (Grogan) Martin

Catherine J. (Grogan) Martin, 61, of Torrington, CT, peacefully passed away Monday, April 17, 2023, at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital.  She was the wife of Robert Martin.

Catherine was born April 14, 1962, in Binghamton, NY, the daughter of the late William and Melva (Burgan) Grogan.

When her son was born, Cathy chose to become a full time homemaker. As he got older she worked with Guiding Eyes for the Blind as a puppy raiser, eventually training others for the role. She rejoined the workforce as an Executive Assistant at Vassar College. She enjoyed cooking with Rob and entertaining family and friends. She will be remembered for her love of dogs, cats, horses, and birds.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by one son, William Dorgan (Lauren) of Rensselaer, NY; two brothers, Geoffrey Grogan (Debbi) of Harpursville, NY, David Grogan (Paivi) of Newburgh, NY; one sister, Teresa Grogan (Phil) of South Salem, NY; one granddaughter, Arya Mae Dorgan as well as two nephews, Thomas and Patrick Grogan.

Relatives and friends may call on Tuesday, May 2, 2023, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Cook Funeral Home, 82 Litchfield St., Torrington, CT.   Burial will be at the family’s convenience.
