Carol H. Jensen,89, formerly of Millerton, NY and Torrington, CT died peacefully on May 17th at Geer Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Canaan, CT. Born in New York, NY on January 7, 1933, she was the daughter of the late Max and Jennie (Gunther) Haiman. She was predeceased by her husband Stephen of 45 years and her twin sister, Janice of Raleigh, North Carolina.

Carol graduated from Walton High School, Bronx New York. After graduation, she attended college and then worked as a bookkeeper for Irving Trust Company.  Having spent summers vacationing in Millerton, she moved there permanently and worked as a bookkeeper for New England Cleaners in Millerton and the Lakeville Printing Company, Lakeville, CT.

Over the years, Carol was a member of Congregation Beth David in Amenia, NY where she taught Sunday School, a member of the Webutuck PTA, and a volunteer at the Millerton Free Library.  She loved playing Mah Jong, gardening, traveling, and was an avid reader.

Carol leaves behind a daughter Robin Faust (Craig) of Goshen, a son Richard Warner of Manhattan, stepdaughters, Christine Taylor (Jeffrey) of Harwinton, CT, Darlene Jensen of Winsted, CT, Peggy Jensen (Scott Saunders) of Morris, CT, Patty Jensen (Gary Jamieson) of Morris, CT; two grandsons, five step grandchildren, two great grandchildren and four step great grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held at Hillside Cemetery, Torrington, CT on Friday, May 20th at 10:30 AM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association (alz.org), a charity of your choice, or you may honor Carol by performing an act of kindness to someone in need.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Cook Funeral Home, Torrington, CT.
