On Sunday, May 14th, 2023, Bonnie Lou Johnson Herrick Mazzarella passed from this life. A longtime resident of Torrington CT she was born August 8th, 1942, in Ellsworth ME to Bernard and Florence Johnson. She grew up in Southwest Harbor ME with her younger sister Beverly where she met her first husband, Paul Wilson Herrick. Their union produced four children. Cindy Lake widow of Ronald Lake who currently resides in Springfield MO. Kathleen Britton wife of Christopher Britton of Torrington CT, and Theresa Crosby wife of William Crosby Jr. of Greenwood SC. A son, Andrew Herrick predeceased her in September 1984.

She later married Joseph Mazzarella of Torrington who predeceased her in 2010. She added his son Joseph Mazzarella Jr. and his wife Kim Mazzarella to her extended family. She also leaves 17 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren along with nieces and a nephew.

As a youth, Bonnie was chosen in all four years of high school to the Main All-State Choir and the Maine All-State Band. She loved music all her life aspiring to sing Opera. Her love of Music was vast and diverse. Later in her life, she sang and often performed with her husband's band, “Joe Mazzarella and the Sensations”. They enjoyed performing in many local establishments.

Bonnie worked in several industries in Northwestern Connecticut including Waring Products, Torrington Company, Torin Corporation, and Royal Precision. She was especially proud of her service as a local union representative for her coworkers and her role in quality control.

Bonnie has been laid to rest in Hillside Cemetery, Torrington CT beside her beloved husband Joe.

A time for family and friends to gather for a brief remembrance will be decided and announced at a later date, in lieu of flowers donations may be made to Diabetes Research & Wellness Foundation or Alzheimer’s Research. Both conditions impacted her life greatly.
