Anthony “Tony” Lovallo, 92, of Torrington, CT, peacefully passed away Wednesday, April 29, 2020, at Maplewood of Stonyhill in Bethel, CT.

Tony was born October 26, 1927, in Torrington, CT, the son of the late Leonardo and Catherine (Colangelo) Lovallo.  He served his country with the U.S. Army.  Upon his honorable discharge, he received the WWII Victory Medal, and the Army of Occupational Medal Japan.  He was employed by the State of Connecticut as a Social Worker until his retirement as the Deputy Commissioner. While working for the Connecticut Children’s Youth Services, Tony started and promoted private placement for delinquent children. His devotion to his job in social services, working with children and the countless kind deeds, care, support and love he provided to his family, friends and community made him a special person and leader.

Tony Lovallo was a star Torrington High School baseball player having been drafted into the Major Leagues after both high school and college. He was also an avid baseball card collector and spent his retirement years with the hobby.  He was an elite duck pin bowler having won the Torrington Elks Bowling League scoring title seventeen years in a row.

Tony loved life!  Among his favorite pastimes were organizing and attending community events, dancing and traveling to Florida with "Mickey" .  He enjoyed cooking, trips to Arthur Ave. with his brother Danny, fishing with his children on West Hill Pond, and going to the Horse Races in Saratoga.

Tony was a lifetime member of the Torrington Elks Lodge #372, a member of the Sons of Italy, and a communicant of St. Peter's Church.

He is survived by two sons, Dr. Jeffrey Lovallo of McLean, VA, Atty. Randolph “Randy” Lovallo and his wife Paula of Ridgefield, CT; six grandchildren, Ryan, Eric, Lauren, Shane, Griffin and Nash; one nephew Bernard Mucci, two nieces, Kaye  Lovallo Coddington, Lisa Lovallo Northup, stepdaughter Kim Cooke as well as several great nieces and great nephews.  He was preceded in death by his longtime companion Michaelina "Mickey" Coretto; his brother, Daniel Lovallo, and three sisters, Carmella Mucci, Angelina Pergola and Margaret Lovallo and stepson Ross Anderson.
