Veronica Santo, 84, of Torrington, CT, passed away peacefully on July 12, 2025, at Havencare at Litchfield Woods. She was born on September 5, 1940, and devoted 25 years of her life to educating and inspiring students within the Torrington School System, where she made a profound impact on countless young minds. She was a member of the State Teachers Retirement and the National Education Association.
Veronica’s commitment to her profession was matched by her love and devotion to her family. She is remembered fondly by her brother, John Cracco, and his wife, Jo-An of Torrington, CT, her sister, Diana Neshko of Winsted, CT, sister-in-law Janet Cracco as well as several nieces and nephews. Her nurturing spirit extended beyond her immediate family, as she was exceptionally grateful for her niece Gerri, who provided dedicated care for the past six years. The family also extends heartfelt gratitude to the exceptional staff at Smilow Center in Torrington, along with the unwavering support of Dr. Ashita Talsania throughout Veronica's illness.
She is predeceased by her beloved husband, John Santo, along with her parents, John and Mary (Diquigiovanni) Cracco. Veronica was also preceded in death by her brothers, Nivio, Sisto, and Marcus Cracco, and her sister, Gloria Cianciolo.
Funeral services will be held on July 17, 2025, with the cortege leaving at 10:30 a.m. from Cook Funeral Home, 82 Litchfield St, Torrington, CT to St. Peter Church, (St. John Paul the Great Parish) 99 East Main St., Torrington, CT for a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. with Msgr. Robert F. Tucker officiating. Burial will follow at Hillside Cemetery, 76 Walnut Street, Torrington, CT. Relatives and friends may call on Thursday morning from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at Cook Funeral Home.
