Vera L. Hatfield, 86, a longtime resident of New Hartford, CT, passed away peacefully on October 8, 2026.
Vera will be remembered as a woman with a generous heart, a strong and independent spirit, and a stubborn streak that was unmistakably her own. She had a beautiful way of making people feel remembered and cared for, and she never took life too seriously.
Vera dedicated her entire professional life to one law firm, beginning her career as a paralegal straight out of high school. Her commitment and loyalty were a reflection of the dedication she brought to all aspects of her life.
Her church held a special place in her heart, providing her with comfort and community. Vera enjoyed many hobbies, including playing tennis, tending to her vegetable garden, taking her morning walks, reading her daily newspaper, diving into her pool, and spending time with the animals, family and friends she loved so dearly.
Above all, Vera was deeply devoted to her family and friends. To her granddaughter, Rebecka Dinwoodie (Hatfield), Vera was and will always remain the most treasured person in her life.
Vera leaves behind her beloved granddaughter, Rebecka Dinwoodie (Hatfield), and her husband Joseph Dinwoodie. She is also survived by her cherished nieces and nephew and their families: Gail Bleakley; Gail's children, Kimberly Jarest and her husband Jeremy Jarest, and their four sons, as well as Jill Pavlik and Katherine Pavlik; Julie Remiszewski and her husband Stanley Remiszewski, and children, Evan Remiszewski and Greg Koutroumanis, his wife Tina Koutroumanis, and their two sons; nephew Chris Goodenough and wife Becky; and and niece Maureen Parent and her husband Lenny Parent.
Vera was predeceased by her son, Robert Hatfield; her siblings, Douglas, Bobby, Beatrice and Eleanor; and her parents, Raymond and Mabel Goodenough.
