Thomas “Tom” Henry Lukens, 67, of Torrington, CT, died peacefully at home on April 30, 2020, with his wife by his side, after a short battle with cancer. He was the beloved husband of Audrey (DeAngelo) Lukens.
Tom was born on June 2, 1952, in Hartford, CT, to Doris (Schapp) Lukens. He was a graduate of Torrington Hight School, and a cum laude graduate of Teikyo Post with a BA degree. In his professional career he worked in the insurance industry, with over 25 years of service with the merger of Travelers-Citi Group-Metlife.
Tom enjoyed traveling and was very fortunate to have traveled extensively with his wife, throughout Europe – including Italy, Spain, France, Ireland, Germany and Austria. He loved spending time with family; “Uncle Tom” never missed an opportunity to watch his “adopted” niece, Jillian compete in her heptathlons which took him to CT, MA and FL. He cherished being “Uncle Tom” to Jarred, Emily and Nathan and celebrating all their special occasions.
In addition to his wife of 32 years, he leaves to cherish his memories his mother, Doris Lukens and his sister-in-law Joyce DeAngelo.
Respecting the current limitations, a burial service will be held at the convenience of the family. A celebration of his life will be announced at a future date. The family wishes to thank Smilow of Torrington, friends, family and neighbors; and a very special thank you to Fr. Emmanuel Ihemedu for all of his support.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. John Paul the Great Parish, 160 Main St., Torrington, CT 06790 or to MaryCare, Inc., P. O. Box 4107, Hartford, CT 06101.
