Theresa Daigle of Torrington, CT, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, died on April 12, 2026, Divine Mercy Sunday, at the age of 101. Theresa was born on August 18, 1924, in Waterbury, Connecticut, to Edward and Sarah (Gelinas) Bowman, and was the loving wife of Aurele Daigle who passed away November 5, 1992.
Theresa had a long career as a caring and loving nurse. She had owned the Daigle Rest Home in Winsted, worked at Winsted Memorial Hospital and Highland Acres and cared for patients through private duty and as a visiting nurse. With her husband, she owned and operated two laundromats for many years.
Theresa was a devout Catholic who led her life guided by her strong religious beliefs. She was an avid promoter of the Holy Face and the Divine Mercy devotions as well as a long-time member of the Our Lady, Gate of Heaven Prayer Group. She always found ways to share her faith with family, friends and everyone she met, regardless of their faith. No one who was in need of physical or spiritual healing or who was going through a difficult time was excluded or removed from her endless prayer list.
Theresa is survived by her children Catherine and her husband Arthur Olsen, Raymond Daigle, Denise Murphy and Tina Daigle, grandchildren Melina, Melissa and her husband Joseph, Eric, Craig and his wife Dawn, great grandchildren Dustin, Calvin and Caylee, and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, Theresa was preceded in death by her son Ronald, daughter-in-law Joyce, brother Wilfred Bowman and sister Anne Collette.
Friends may call on Thursday, April 16, 2026, at Cook Funeral Home, 82 Litchfield Street, Torrington, Connecticut, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Friday, April 17, 2026, at St. Joseph Church, Winsted, Connecticut, at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends are asked to meet directly at St. Joseph Church. Burial will follow at Mount Olivet Cemetery, Watertown, Connecticut. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Joseph Church or St. Anthony School, 31 Oak Street, Winsted, Connecticut 06098.
