Sylvia M. (Kelsey) LaCasse

May 8, 1958 — May 1, 2022

Torrington, Connecticut

Sylvia M. LaCasse (Kelsey), age 63 and 51 weeks, passed peacefully at home early Sunday May 1st, 2022.

Born May 8th, 1958, to William and Audrey Kelsey in Winsted, CT.  She was a graduate of Oliver Wolcott Tech, Class of 77.  She worked as a salon specialist and nail technician for many years.  Eventually taking a position at Richard Septic Systems in 1986.  Giving 36 years of dedication, she ran that business like a fine time piece.  Balancing dramatic drivers, cranky laborers, and some of the craziest customers on the planet.  Along the way she made hundreds of obscene jokes, inappropriate comments and was loved for her bold, blunt honesty.

She was an avid crafts woman who loved to cook, taught herself how to quilt, and was a member of many canning groups.  Ever the sun loving lizard you could find her outside working on something, gardening, filling hummingbird feeders or laying by the pool because she did not swim.  Sylvia was an endless giver, always remembering birthdays, anniversaries and special occasions. She would show up with presents of tasty homemade canned goods, a stocked cooler and a smile.  There isn’t enough space on this page to describe all the wonderful things this woman was.  Those who were lucky enough to know her, be touched by her kindness, her craziness and her honesty know that they will never find a person like her again.   She was a rare breed and will be truly missed.

In addition to her beloved husband of 33 years, Marshall C. LaCasse III, she leaves behind her daughter, Stepheni M LaCasse, her loving grandson, Riley S LaCasse, her “refugee” daughter Laura A Mathews, her adopted son William S. Cuatt III, her lifelong friend/sister Deborah Bascetta and so many dear friends and loved ones.

Sylvia would have been 64 on May 8th.  Celebrate her life with us on Monday, May 9th. from 5:00pm to 7:00pm at Cook Funeral Home, 82 Litchfield St., Torrington. Pack you cooler (because you know she would) and your best memories, stories of her, laugh with us, cry with us, and let her memory comfort us in this time of heart ache.

In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the National Breast Cancer Foundation.
