Salvatore F. Cimino, 89, of Litchfield, CT, passed away, Monday, March 5, 2018, at his residence. He was the beloved husband of Jennie (Tufano) Cimino for 66 years.
Sal was born March 11, 1928, in Brooklyn, NY, son of the late John and Mildred (Petrocelli) Cimino. He served his country with the US Army, during World War II. Among the awards and decorations he received upon his honorable discharge were the Army of Occupation Medal, Japan and the World War II Victory Medal. In retirement, he enjoyed his time with Haight Vineyards as a wine maker. In addition to making wine, he enjoyed cooking for his family and many friends, and was famous for his yearly clambake.
In addition to his wife Jennie, he is survived by three sons, Ronald Cimino of Torrington, CT, Dennis Cimino of Smithtown, NY, Scott Cimino of Kings Park, NY; one brother, John Cimino of Staten Island, NY; two sisters Beatrice Fabbricatori and Mildred Reia, both of Coram, NY; eight grandchildren, six great grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, March 10, 2018, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 160 Main St., Torrington, CT. Burial will follow at St. Anthony Cemetery, Litchfield, with full military honors accorded. Relatives and friends may call on Saturday morning from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at Cook Funeral Home, 82 Litchfield St., Torrington.
