Ruth M. (Barss) Savanella

Ruth M. (Barss) Savanella, 83, of Sun City, AZ, passed away Monday, March 19, 2018.  She was the beloved wife of James A. Savanella for over 64 years.

Ruth was born January 16, 1935, in Saratoga Springs, NY, daughter of the late Irving and Anna Mae (Wells) Barss.  She was a Registered Nurse, employed by Charlotte Hungerford Hospital until her retirement in 1996.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by a son, Derek Savanella of Harwinton, CT; two daughters, Jennifer Perkins of Torrington, CT, and Janis Savanella of Harwinton, CT; two brothers, Edward and Thomas Barss, both of Greenfield, NY; two grandchildren, one great grandchild as well as several nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by one daughter, Jamie Messenger.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 28, 2018, at 12:00 noon, at the Cook Funeral Home Chapel, 82 Litchfield St., Torrington, with the Rev. Robert F. Tucker officiating.  Burial will follow at St. Francis New Cemetery.  Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, March 27, 2018, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Cook Funeral Home.
