Torrington, Connecticut

Robert R. Weingart, 78, of Torrington, CT passed away peacefully on February 9th, 2022, surrounded by his loving family at Yale New Haven Hospital after a battle with cancer. He was the loving husband of Janis (Fracasso) Weingart.

Robert was born on October 16, 1943, in Torrington, CT.  He was the son of the late John and Erma (Nardi) Weingart. Bob graduated from Torrington High School in 1961 and attended University of CT where he took courses in Industrial Arts Specialties.

In his younger years he worked for his father’s dairy business, Greenwoods Dairy.  He went on to work for Guida’s Dairy, State of CT- Department of Developmental Services, as a State School Instructor, and in retirement, he worked driving the senior bus in Litchfield.

In addition to his wife of 40 years, he is survived by his daughters, Sheryl Sheridan of Simsbury, CT and Jennifer Webb of Suffield, CT; his grandchildren, Jenna Sheridan, Patrick Sheridan, Alek Cotnoir and Logan Webb; his brothers, James and wife, Mary Weingart of California and Ronald and wife, Sharon Weingart of Torrington; sister-in-law, Denise Bennett of Florida, and many special nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Bob was proud of his younger years of tap dancing and was a natural dancer. Growing up, he was a volunteer for the Burrville Volunteer Fire Department. He spent many memorable years bowling with family and friends. Over the years, Bob and Janis went to many antique car shows and enjoyed several concerts, musicals and comedy shows at the Warner Theater. Watching sports was his favorite pastime, especially football and rooting for the UConn Huskies. Bob’s favorite vacation spot was Maine where they went to Acadia National Park, flea markets and spent time at the beaches. He had many good times at the Sullivan Senior Center and enjoyed all the fun activities.

His family would like to express their appreciation to the doctors, nurses and staff at Yale New Haven Hospital for their compassion and care.

Bob loved his family and was always a source of wisdom, guidance and humor for his daughters and grandchildren. He will be missed by all who knew him.

Funeral Services HAVE BEEN CHANGED DUE TO A WINTER STORM BEING PREDICTED ON FRIDAY .....AND WILL BE HELD ON MONDAY, February 28, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. at Cook Funeral Home, 82 Litchfield St., Torrington.  Burial will follow at Hillside Cemetery.  Relatives and friends may call on MONDAY morning from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. at Cook Funeral Home.
