Robert "Bob" Skinner, 93, of Torrington, CT, peacefully passed away Sunday, May 18, 2025, at his residence at Keystone Senior Living. He was the husband of the late Anne (Travers) Skinner.
Bob was born on November 15, 1931, in New Britain, CT, to the late Theodore and Florence (Humason) Skinner. His dedication and service to his country were exemplified during his time with the United States Air Force, where he enlisted in 1951 and received an honorable discharge in 1955. Following his military service, he earned his Bachelor's degree at UConn in Engineering and a Master's degree in Engineering at RPI. He was employed by Connecticut Light and Power (CL&P), retiring as a Senior Engineer.
A respected member of his community, Bob was a lifetime member of the Torrington Elks #372 and an active participant in the Knights of Columbus. His passion for music shone through as he enjoyed singing with various local choirs, including the Belles and Beaux, the St. Thomas Church Choir, and the Goshen Players. While he would humbly confess that his golf game wasn't spectacular, the sport brought him great joy.
Bob is survived by his son, Christopher Skinner of Torrington; his daughter, Lisa Skinner Pepin and her husband Albert of Windsor Locks, CT; six grandchildren, Kelly Skinner and her significant other Mark Orensteen, Sarah Hartnett and her husband Brian, Tyler Pepin and his wife Kerry, Allison Varner and her husband Nick, Conor Pepin and his girlfriend Jessica Lynch, and Rachel Skinner; five great-grandchildren, as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to his his beloved wife, Anne and his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Richard Skinner and his sister, Virginia Skinner Walsh.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 22, 2025, with the cortege leaving at 10:30 a.m. from Cook Funeral Home, 82 Litchfield St., Torrington, to St. Thomas of Villanova Church (St. Louis de Montfort Parish), 71 North St., Goshen, CT, for a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow at St. Thomas Cemetery with full military honors accorded. Relatives and friends may call on Thursday morning from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at Cook Funeral Home.
