Robert Avenia

Robert Avenia, 85, of Winsted, CT, peacefully passed away at the Torrington Center for Nursing and Rehab on Monday, October 12, 2026.

He was born in Torrington, CT, on March 13, 1941, the son of the late John and Genevieve (Labotosky) Avenia. He owned and operated Avenia Paving until his retirement.

He is survived by one son, Aaron Avenia and daughter-in-law Bryna of New Hartford, CT; four sisters, Evelyn Large of Myrtle Beach, SC, Carol Keslow of Canton, CT, Debbie Soucy of Simpsonville, SC, Diane Malahan of Torrington, CT; four grandchildren, Kaylyn, Carly, Andrew and Aiden, as well as several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one brother, Vincent Avenia.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, October 20, 2026, with the cortege leaving at 9:30 a.m. from Cook Funeral Home, 82 Litchfield St., Torrington, CT to St. Francis of Assisi Church, (St. John Paul the Great Parish), 160 Main St., Torrington, CT for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at St. Francis New Cemetery, Torrington. Calling hours will be held on Monday, October 19, 2026, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Cook Funeral Home.
