Richard A. Eseppi

October 1, 1955 — May 27, 2026

Torrington, Connecticut

Richard Alan Eseppi, 70, of Torrington, CT, passed away Wednesday, May 27, 2026, at his home.

Richard was born October 1, 1955, in Torrington, CT, the son of the late Albert and Helen (Subacz) Eseppi. Rick lived a life defined by service, order and a distinct character that anyone who met him won’t soon forget. He served his country honorably in the United States Navy for 2 years before transitioning to a dedicated career with the United States Postal Service, eventually retiring as a respected Postmaster. Rick was a man of complex sharp edges, strong convictions, and held the world to his own particular standards. Underneath that exterior, Rick showed how much he cared for the people in his life through meaningful and useful gift giving. He will be fondly remembered as the master of the hunt when it came to a good deal and found joy in a bargain. His persistence was legendary, especially when it came to local radio stations. Rick was a serial contest winner, and regularly dialed in and took home major prizes, including a trip to Disney for his family and a cruise. He won so often the radio station knew him by voice alone.

Above all, Rick found immense comfort and joy in the company of his beloved miniature Dachsund, Georgie, who was his constant, loyal companion

He is survived by one son, Bryan Eseppi of Torrington, CT; one daughter, Nicole Sohr of Maricopa, AZ; one brother, David Eseppi of Arizona; two sisters Helen Steward of Bethlehem, CT, Patricia "Trish" Stroughton of Massachusetts and three grandchildren, Mya Sohr, Chase Sohr and Fynn Eseppi. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Carol Michelsen.

Relatives and friends may call on Friday morning, June 12, 2026, from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at Cook Funeral Home, 82 Litchfield St., Torrington, CT. Burial will be private.
