Peter Marchi

Sep 1, 1952 — Aug 17, 2026

New Hartford, Connecticut

Peter Nicholas Marchi Jr, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family on August 17, 2026, after a long battle with illness. Peter was born on September 1, 1952, in Winsted, CT to the late Peter N Marchi, Sr and Carmela (Bazzano) Marchi. Peter worked for the State of CT, Department of Transportation, for 34 years and retired at the age of 55.

He was an avid NASCAR fan and frequently attended races in Loudon, NH and Bristol, TN with family and friends. As a long time, season passholder at the Lebanon Valley Dirt Track, he made countless memories at the races with friends and family. His passion for sports was a big part of who he was, always cheering on the NY Giants, Boston Red Sox and UCONN Huskies. Anyone who knew him understood that he never watched a game quietly; whether he was celebrating a big win or passionately disagreeing with a call, everyone around him knew how he felt about the game, just ask his neighbors!

Peter was a dedicated member of both the Norfolk Volunteer Fire Department and Winsted Union Hose Company #1, which was a building block to instilling volunteerism and a sense of community in his family. He played softball with the Pond Hill Softball team and enjoyed participating in a duckpin bowling league, tallying the league championship 1970-1973.

Peter’s greatest joy was spending time with the people he loved. He treasured time with his children and grandchildren and loved stopping in to visit friends. He was a jack of all trades and would never hesitate to help family and friends with projects. His personality was truly one of a kind.

In addition to his mother, Peter was survived by his children, Robert Marchi (Holly), Michelle Fedorowicz (Martin), Tyler Marchi (Maribeth) and Adam Marchi. In addition, his sisters Kathy Fallon (Richard) and Gail Gordon and his brother John Marchi (Michele). Peter had five grandchildren, Devin & Emily Fedorowicz, Grace & Miles Marchi and Reagan Marchi. He was predeceased by his father, Peter N Marchi Sr, and his brother Robert Marchi.

There will be a private burial service for the family. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Norfolk Volunteer Fire Department, 20 Shepard Rd, Norfolk, CT 06058. Condolences may be sent to Peter’s family at cookfuneralhomect.com.
