Michael Wallace, 62, of Torrington, CT, passed away peacefully on ,November 6, 2025, surrounded by his family, after a long battle with cancer.
He was a graduate of Lewis S Mills High School, Class of 1982. After working for several furniture retail businesses, Mike, in 1992, became the 3rd generation business owner of Southworth's Wayside Furniture in Torrington. The business will continue on, run by his brother David, and his best friend, Kevin Borla.
After kidney failure in 2016, Mike was given the gift of time through the selfless act of kidney donation by Steve Rylander. Steve, our family is eternally grateful !
Mike's life was full of adventures and collections of classic cars, motorcycles, guitars, etc. He traveled the world, though his most loved destination was the 40+ years of family summers on Lake Winnipesaukee.
He is survived by his parents, Jack and Jean (Rosenbeck) Wallace, his brothers, Peter (Cheryl), David, and Brian (Maggie), Nieces, Heather(Brian) Wallace, Melissa (Jeremy) Beecher, and Ava Wallace, and nephews, Collin, Aidan, Logan, and Noah Wallace, as well as several great nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind countless beloved friends and business associates.
Visitation for friends and family will be held Tuesday, November 11th, from 5:00-7:30 PM, at the Cook Funeral Home, 82 Litchfield St, Torrington. The burial service will be private.
