Mark Reid, Jr.

Litchfield, Connecticut

Mark Reid, Jr, of Litchfield, died Wednesday, February 18, surrounded by the love and care of his family. 

He was born in Bethesda, MD, and grew up in the Washington, DC, area. Mark and his beloved wife, Karen, lived in Fort Wayne, Indiana, where he attended Purdue University, and in Germany, where he served as an officer in the Army Corps of Engineers. Mark and Karen continued their lives together in Frederick, MD, Goshen, CT, and Lewes, DE. Mark leaves a legacy of many well-designed homes, offices, and structures. He served as a volunteer firefighter throughout much of his life. Mark added color and nourishment to the world with his prolific gardens. He was a kind man who was quick to find connections with others. Most importantly, Mark was a loving husband, father, and Pop Pop. 

Mark was predeceased by his wife, Karen, and his parents, Mark, Sr, and Marion Reid. He is survived by his devoted daughter Courtney Quigley, son-in-law Wes Quigley III, and grandchildren, Sam and James Quigley. He is also survived by brothers Stephen and Gary Reid. 

Relatives and friends may call on Friday, February 27, 2026, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Cook Funeral Home, 82 Litchfield St., Torrington, CT.  A brief service will be held at 6:30 p.m.  Burial will be private.

His family would like to extend deepest thanks to the nurses and doctors at CHH and Smilow Cancer Center, the VNA, and his community at Wells Run. To honor his memory, please consider making a donation to the VNA or planting a little garden.
