Marie (Videtto) Lenart, 86, of Torrington, CT, passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 19, 2020, at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital. She was the wife of the late Bernard Lenart.
Marie was born December 1, 1933, in Torrington, CT, the daughter of the late Michael and Anna (Ross) Videtto.
She graduated from Torrington High School, where she played basketball even though she was the shortest in her class. Marie worked for many years at Northeast Utilities prior to retiring and then later worked for the Torrington Housing Authority from where she retired at the age of 84. She was selfless and took care of her family until the day that she died. She was considered the matriarch of her family and her greatest joy came from being with them. She enjoyed travelling with friends, going to Maine, golfing and watching the New York Yankees.
She is survived by four daughters, Annette Lenart of Hartsville, South Carolina, Diane Lenart – Basso and her husband Louis of Torrington, CT, Valerie Lenart of Torrington, Audrey Spielman and her husband Chuck of Torrington, CT; one sister, Della Lenart and her brother-in-law Bobby of Torrington, CT; two sisters-in-law, Anna Mae Marola and Lois Videtto; four grandchildren, Mitchell Lenart and his wife Jaime, Andrew Spielman, Julia Spielman and Kayla Lenart; two great grandchildren, Grant and Clinton Lenart, as well as several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brothers Jimmy, Joe, Chappy, Mickey and Tommy.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, November 24, 2020, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Peter Church, (St. John Paul the Great Parish) 99 East Main St., Torrington, CT. Relatives and friends are asked to meet directly at St. Peter Church. There are no calling hours. Burial will follow at St. Peter Cemetery. All attending funeral services must follow CDC recommendations for COVID protection by wearing face masks and following social distancing.
