Majorie Esther (Almas) Raspiller

Marjorie Esther (Almas) Raspiller also known as Margie, passed away peacefully on July 20, 2023, at the age of 86. She was a longtime member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Torrington, CT.

Born in New Britain, CT, to Martha E. Adams, who later met and married Harwood L. Almas who adopted Margie and together they raised her. Margie was their first of three children. Raised in Torrington, she attended Vogel-Wetmore and was a member of the Torrington High School class of 1954.

Married in 1956 to Gordon A. Raspiller at St. Pauls by Pastor Sutherland, Margie worked at Pitney Bowes as a paste-up artist. While living in New Hartford, she worked as a bookkeeper for Marandino’s. Also living in Ashley Falls, MA, Winsted, Fredericksburg, VA, Marjorie and her husband both obtained their GEDs , in 1984, while living in Port Saint Lucie, FL. There, she was an avid member of the Treasure Coast Woodcarving Club. Next, moving to Stuart, FL, Margie worked as a paste-up artist at PIP Printing. Margie and Gordy decided to move back to Torrington in 1999. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. As a crafter, Margie enjoyed crocheting and knitting scarves and throws and making macrame chairs all of which were gifts and donations for charity fund-raisers.

Predeceased by her parents, Harwood and Martha, and her husband, Gordy, Margie is survived by her children, Wesley and his wife Debbie, daughter, Wendy, granddaughter Cindy her husband, Will and daughter, Quinn, grandson Matthew and his wife Vanessa, grandson William, along with his partner Ashley and her children, Sarah, Michael, And Travis and her 2 siblings Sandra and Maria, along with her sister-in-law, Noreen and her husband, Doug, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.  She had many close friends, including Aldo and Candy.

A memorial service will be held Monday, July 31, 2023, at 4:00 p.m. at St Paul’s Lutheran Church, 837 Charles Street, Torrington, CT 06790

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Saint Paul’s Lutheran Church, in memory of Marjorie, 837 Charles Street, Torrington, CT 06790
