Loda Sheehan

Loda Sheehan, of Harwinton, passed away on March 26, 2024, at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital, surrounded by her family. 

Loda was born November 27, 1939, in Southbridge, MA, to John and Mary (Zamora) Slota. Loda graduated from Mary E. Wells High School in Southbridge in 1957.

Loda married John "Jack" Sheehan of Southbridge on September 1, 1962. They moved to Torrington in 1965, and Harwinton in 1974. She worked for 42 years as the assistant to the First Selectman at Harwinton Town Hall. In that role, she touched many lives and was known to almost every town resident. 

After retirement, Loda enjoyed spending summers in Kennebunk, Maine, spending time with her grandchildren, and watching UConn Women's Basketball. She was an enthusiastic member of the Harwinton Historical Society, the Garden Club and Beta Sigma Phi.

She is survived by Jack, her husband of 62 years, and their sons: Tim (Melissa Miller) of New Milford, Brendan (Yen) of Monroe, Jon (Kelly) of Pomfret, and Kevin (Cate Kulak) of Bloomfield, and Loda’s grandchildren Kayla, Dan, Katie, Tucker, Jack, Grace and Bailey.

Funeral services will be private; a public Celebration of Life is planned for this spring. Loda was loved and will be missed by all who knew her.
