Lincoln Howard Taylor, Jr.

Nov 29, 1948 — Jul 10, 2026

Bristol, Connecticut

Lincoln Howard Taylor, Jr., died July 10, 2026, at Hartford Hospital. He was born in New Britain, CT to Lincoln Howard Taylor, Sr. and Claire Horseman on November 29, 1928.

He grew up on the lake in Harwinton, CT with his family, Claire and Alfred Werner and his siblings Dean, Barbara and Joyce.

Lincoln attended Oliver Wolcott Technical School with a focus on carpentry, graduating in1967. His first job was at Green Ford Sales in Torrington, CT. Mr. Green appreciated his love of cars and sent him to Ford Motor School in New York. He continued to work in the automotive industry and was proud to open his own shop, Lincoln Auto in Torrington.

For over 50 years he repaired and painted all makes and models of cars and was even featured on the local TV news report about his workmanship and honest of estimates.

He was an active member of the Harwinton Westside Volunteer Fire Department for over 30 years, eventually retiring as their Chief. Continuing his work in emergency services, Lincoln was instrumental in setting up the Litchfield County Dispatch Center in 1989.

He married Sera on 12/11/10 (a date so they could both remember their anniversary). Lincoln embraced Sera’s children and enjoyed youthful adventures and ice cream with their grandchildren.

Lincoln was a member of the First Congregational Church of Thomaston for 15 years, serving as a Head Deacon, Sexton, and helping Sera set up and run coffee hour each Sunday. His faith and family were the absolute cornerstones of his life and his love for the Lord shone in all he did.

He spent countless hours researching and documenting his family tree, visiting historical societies, cemeteries and talking to anyone that had historical records in New England.

Lincoln loved going to Main each year to visit family, the county fairs, antiquing and simply walking around Boothbay Harbor with a cup of coffee and taking in the coastal Maine air.

Lincoln was predeceased by his parents and sister Barbara (Tom) Zotter.

He is survived by his brother Dean (Amy) Werner and his sister Joyce (Steve) Chmura, his wife of 15 years, Sera Taylor, his children Eric Taylor, Evelyn (Dan) Andrews, Ethan (Sarah) Werner, stepchildren Amanda (Matt) Johnson and Joshua (Erin) Grover, and several grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Arrangements are under the direction of Cook Funeral home in Torrington, CT. A celebration of life will be planned later this summer.
