Winsted, Connecticutt

Lena (Lee) Cornelio Resha, 95, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on July 23, 2023.  She was the wife of Abraham Resha who preceded her in 1985.  The daughter of the late Thomas and Concettina (Miceli) Cornelio, Lee was born and lived in Winsted for most of her life, attended St. Anthony School and Gilbert School, and was married at St. Joseph’s Church in 1955.

As a lifelong resident of Winsted, Lee participated in many community clubs such as the Junior Women’s Club, the Daughters of Isabella, the Italian American Women’s Club, and the Girl Scouts.  She was also a communicant of St. Joseph’s Church.  Lee was very religious and felt right at home as secretary of St. Anthony’s School for many years.  Despite her early challenges with visual impairment, Lee was fiercely independent and enjoyed her time with family and friends including traveling and cruises, summers at Cape Cod, winters in Florida, and the Senior Center in Dennis, MA.

In addition to her parents and husband, Lee was preceded by her brother, Michael Palma, sister Mary Falce, and granddaughter Ashley Jacquier.  She leaves behind her loving children: Thomas (Cynthia), Cheryl (Bonnie), and Cornelia; and grandchildren: Resha (David) Jacobs, Kaylee (Colin) Szymanski, Thomas Joseph (Amanda) Mariano-Resha, Frank (Jamie) Jacquier, and Michael (Tiffany) Jacquier and their families.  In addition, she leaves her brother Joseph (Judi) Palma and her sisters-in-law, Fakie Bracey and Lorice Resha along with many nieces, nephews, and friends in CT, MA, and FL.

A Mass of Christian Burial celebrating her life will be held on August 17, 2023, at 11 am at St. Joseph’s Church, 31 Oak St., Winsted, CT.  Relatives and friends are asked to meet directly at St. Joseph’s Church.  Burial will follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery. There will be no calling hours.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Dennis Senior Center, 1045 RT 134, South Dennis, MA 02660 or St. Joseph Church.
