Kathleen (“Kae”) Harrington Perrotti, age 87, of Torrington, CT, passed away peacefully on December 8, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. Kae was a remarkable woman, known for her intellect, solving New York Times crossword puzzles, passion for reading, political engagement, and love of family.
While raising her 5 children, Kae had a varied professional life. From sales at ASquared Industries, to working in local insurance agencies and at The Hartford, to managing insurance at dental offices in her 70’s, she always looked and acted much younger than her years, especially when she became a graduate of UConn with a bachelor’s degree in 2012.
In addition to volunteering many hours at her church, she was also an active Justice of the Peace, marrying several dedicated couples after the CT Supreme Court ruling in Kerrigan v. Commissioner in 2008, and was a member of the Torrington Zoning Board of Appeals for many years.
Born to Mary and George Harrington, who hailed from County Tipperary in Ireland, Kae often recounted how friends would call the house when she was growing up just to talk to her parents, whose Irish brogue was music to their ears. She also fondly remembered when her mother, who prominently displayed a photograph of the first Irish Catholic president in her home, brought her to hear John F. Kennedy speak in Waterbury in 1960. Heavy rain delayed his arrival, but he reached the crowd, including the Harringtons, at 3 am and gave a campaign speech she always remembered.
She was predeceased by her siblings John, Anne, Thomas, Joanne, George, Patrick, Mae, and Gayle. She was especially proud of each of her brothers, all of whom served in combat roles in the armed forces and received many medals and commendations. George’s army jacket, with his CSM rank insignia, was always kept hanging in the hall closet.
Kae’s greatest pride and joy were her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She is survived by her 5 children, Annette Farley (Jerry), Mark Perrotti (Micki), Mary Perrotti (Kevin), Brenda Perrotti (David), and Lauren Perrotti-Verboven (Danny). “Nana” is also survived by 10 grandchildren – Michael Farley (Kerri), Patrick Farley, Connor Farley (Jen), Max Robinson, Craig Zordan (Christina), Arya Rao (Sam), Mara Rao, Jake Verboven, Taylor Verboven and Olivia Verboven, and was known as “Gigi” to her great-grandchildren – Wyatt, Delaney, Mia, and Cameron.
