Kathleen A. Havens, age 80, of Torrington, Connecticut is survived by her children Father Robert Havens of Mexico City; Michael and Andrea Havens of Nolensville, TN; her daughter, Dr. Maria Cresham, and Maria’s sons, Tommie and Christopher Cresham, of New Hartford, CT; and her sister, Marie Burke of Redding, CA. She peacefully entered eternal rest at her home in Harwinton, CT on Sunday, June 8, 2025. Born on February 21, 1945, in Derby, Connecticut, Kathleen was the daughter of the late Agnes Theresa Achko Mica and Emil Louis Mica. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Louis Mica.
She resided in Torrington for over 65 years, after graduating college in Kansas. Kathleen was more than a beloved figure in her community, her life was dedicated to nurturing the young minds of Torrington. Teaching elementary school at Sacred Heart, and eventually opening her own business in the early 80s, East Side Day Care, she instilled honorable values, love, and life lessons onto generations of Torrington children. Kathleen was extremely proud of her family, and her loyal dog Zeus. She was a truly exceptional person and a trailblazer ahead of the times that will be greatly missed by many.
All are welcome to attend Roman Catholic Mass of Burial in celebration of Kathleen's life on Thursday, June 19, 2025, at 11:00 a.m., at St. Peter Church - St. John Paul the Great Parish, located at 99 East Main Street, Torrington, CT. There are no calling hours. Burial will be private.
