Judith A. Belmonte

Judith A. Belmonte, beloved mother, wife, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on December 8, 2025, at Hartford Hospital after a short and very courageous fight. Born on February 1, 1945, Judith lived a life defined by warmth, service, and an unwavering joy that touched everyone she met.

Judith was predeceased by her devoted husband, Peter Belmonte, and by her sister, Donna Owens. She leaves behind her son, Brandon Belmonte, and his wife, Zoey, of New Jersey. She is also survived by her loving sister, Joan Sugerak, and her lifelong best friend since childhood, Kathie Rinaldi. Her family and friends will forever cherish her love, guidance, and remarkable spirit.

Judith attended college in Boston before beginning a nursing career marked by compassion and dedication. In 1975, she began a new chapter as the proud owner of Skee’s Diner—affectionately known by many as Jude’s Place. The diner quickly became a beloved community landmark, not just for its food but for the warmth, laughter, and kindness Judith shared with every customer who walked through the door. Long after her years at the diner, people would still stop her to reminisce about Jude’s Place and to ask—always with a smile—when she might reopen it.

Judith’s smile was her signature. She was always happy, always ready with a kind word or conversation, and she had a remarkable ability to make others feel seen and appreciated. Her joy was genuine and contagious—a constant presence wherever she went.

Judith will be deeply missed by all who knew her, but her legacy of kindness, laughter, and love will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of her family and friends.
