Josephine A. Kozlak, 88, of Torrington, CT passed away peacefully on June 9, 2026, at her residence, surrounded by family. Born on August 18, 1937, in Torrington, Connecticut, Josephine’s life was marked by dedicated service, deep faith, and an enduring love for her family.
Josephine was a Benefit Advisor for The Torrington Company. A longtime communicant of Sacred Heart Church, she was a respected CCD Instructor, Lector, and Eucharistic Minister —now St. John Paul the Great Parish—in Torrington. Her unwavering devotion to her faith community earned her the prestigious St. Joseph's Medal, a testament to her vast service and tireless efforts within the parish. Additionally, Josephine was a proud member of the St. Anne Society and an active volunteer with numerous organizations, always eager to extend a helping hand.
Josephine’s family meant the world to her. She held her grandchildren close to her heart, offering love and guidance with warmth and sincerity. Known for her incredible skill as a master crocheter, she lovingly crafted countless baby blankets for her family and the Two Hearts Pregnancy Center.
She is lovingly survived by her husband, Stephen Kozlak; her sons, Stephen Kozlak and Christopher Kozlak, both of Torrington, CT; her daughter Joanne McMahon and son-in-law Marty of Brunswick, Maine; her brother Anthony Roscello of Torrington, CT; grandchildren Elizabeth Sullenger and husband Luke, Dr. Kathleen McMahon, Suzannah Kozlak and husband Joe, and John McMahon; her great-grandson Jackson Sullenger; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Josephine was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Anthony Roscello Sr. and Victoria (Michalowski) Roscello; her daughter-in-law Robyn Kozlak; her brother Walter Roscello, and granddaughter Miranda Kozlak.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 13, 2026, with the cortege leaving at 9:30 a.m. from Cook Funeral Home, at 82 Litchfield Street, Torrington, CT to St. Peter Church (St. John Paul the Great Parish), 99 East Main Street, Torrington, CT for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at St. Peter Cemetery, 236 East Pearl Road, Torrington, CT 06790. Relatives and friends may call on Saturday morning from 8:00 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. at Cook Funeral Home.
