Joseph A. Tocci, 79, of Torrington, CT, passed away December 7, 2016, at his residence. He was the beloved husband of Suzanne (Aprile) Tocci for 55 years.
Joe was born March 16, 1937, in Manhattan, NY, son of the late Adolph and Mary (Famiglietti) Tocci. He retired from the Torrington Public School System where he was employed as a Head Custodian. He served his country and was honorably discharged from the United States Army. He was a member of the National Rifle Association, the American Legion, and St. Peter Holy Name Society.
In addition to his wife Suzanne, he is survived by one son, Greg Tocci of Torrington; one daughter, Celeste Derwitsch and her fiancé Joe Dunn of Torrington; two sisters, Carolyn Maiorino and Jean Herman, both of Torrington; grandsons, Jakob and Nathan Derwitsch; great grandchildren, Harper and Gabriel Derwitsch, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, December 13, 2016, with the cortege leaving at 10:30 a.m. from Cook Funeral Home, 82 Litchfield St., Torrington, to St. Peter Church, 107 East Main St., Torrington, for a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow at St. Peter Cemetery with full military honors accorded. Calling hours will be held on Monday, December 12, 2016, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Cook Funeral Home.
