Joseph A. Lamanna Sr., 90, of Torrington, CT, passed away Monday, August 6, 2018, at Regal Care.
Joe was born on December 16, 1927, in Torrington, CT, son of the late Anthony and Salvatrice (Balsamo) Lamanna. He served his country with the U.S. Army during World War II, receiving the Victory Medal upon his honorable discharge. A carpenter by trade, he was employed by LoBrutto Building for 46 years, until his retirement. A former member of the Eagles Club, and he was also a member of the Torrington Knights of Columbus, third degree. Joe enjoyed coffee with friends at local coffee shops.
Joseph is survived by four sons, William Lamanna (Sarah) of Torrington, Joseph Lamanna, Jr. of Palm Coast, FL, Thomas Lamanna of Torrington, James Lamanna (Bea) of Torrington; one daughter, Janice Croce (Eugene) of Terryville; two brothers, Carmen Lamanna of Torrington, Frank Lamanna of San Antonio, TX; twelve grandchildren, one great grandchild, his companion, Janice Hotchkiss, a lifelong friend Steve Ksenych, as well as several nieces, nephews and many friends.
The family would like to thank the staff at Regal Care for the care and compassion shown to Joe as well as to his family.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 10, 2018, at 10:00 a.m. at Cook Funeral Home Chapel, 82 Litchfield St., Torrington. Burial will follow at St. Francis New Cemetery with full military honors accorded. Calling hours will be held on Thursday, August 9, 2018, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Cook Funeral Home.
