John E. O'Brien, Jr.

John E. O'Brien, Jr., 78, of Torrington, CT passed away peacefully on February 12, 2026, at Hartford Hospital. He was the husband of Susan (Darazs) O'Brien of Torrington, CT.  John was born on March 11, 1947, in Winsted, CT, the son of the late John E. O'Brien, Sr. and Jean (DiNicola) O'Brien.

John honorably served in the United States Air Force, achieving the rank of Sergeant before being discharged in February of 1970. He was a Carpenter employed by DeFelice Construction until his retirement.

In addition to his wife, Susan, he is survived by a son Anthony O'Brien, his wife Amanda, and a daughter, Christina Santiago, both of Torrington, CT. John also leaves behind his  brothers, Michael O'Brien, Fred O'Brien, Raymond O'Brien and , and his sisters, Rita O'Brien, Jeanne O'Brien, Lizbeth O'Brien and Margaret O'Brien, as well as two grandchildren and four nieces and two nephews.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday, March 5, 2026, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Cook Funeral Home, 82 Litchfield St., Torrington, CT.  A funeral service will take place the following day, Friday, March 6, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Cook Funeral Home, concluding with the entombment at St. Francis New Cemetery Mausoleum with full military honors accorded.
