John James Krayeski

August 2, 1946 — June 6, 2026

Torrington, Connecticut

John James Krayeski, 79, of Torrington, CT passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 6, 2026.

Born on August 2, 1946, in Waterbury, Connecticut, John was the son of the late John and Veronica (Magdziarz) Krayeski. Raised in Thomaston, he graduated from Thomaston High School before proudly serving his country in the military.

John served in the United States Air Force from 1966–1969 as a jet mechanic. He was stationed at Lackland Air Force Base in Texas, Loring Air Force Base in Maine, and in Turkey. He was honored to serve his country and carried that sense of duty throughout his life.

After his military service, John was self-employed for many years. He founded JK Dairy and delivered milk throughout the Danbury area. An entrepreneur at heart, he was always fixing things and repairing lawnmowers as a side business. Known for his quick wit and sharp sense of humor, John always had a joke to share and was often his own biggest fan, bringing laughter to those around him. He was active in the community, delivering Meals on Wheels and driving students in the school van. Whether someone needed a repair or a helping hand, John was always willing to help.

Above all, John cherished time spent with family and friends, as well as the camaraderie of his fellow Christians. He enjoyed the ponies, playing cards, and sharing coffee with his Wednesday Crew. He will be remembered for the time he spent on his porch, visiting with family, friends, and neighbors.

John is survived by his wife of 41 years, Bernadette (Bushka) Krayeski; his children, John Ross (Vicky) and Mick Ross (Tina); six grandchildren, Micky, Mitchell (Caroline), Matthew, Megan, Tori, and Vinny Ross; a great-granddaughter, Mavery; his sister, Katherine Clayton (Bud); and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

He was predeceased by his parents, his brother Donny Krayeski (Alice), sisters Virginia Guilmette (Roland), Carol Decker (Larry), and sister-in-law Annie Bushka.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 15, 2026, with the cortege leaving at 10:30 a.m. from Cook Funeral Home, 82 Litchfield Street, Torrington to St. Peter Church (St. John Paul the Great Parish) 99 East Main St., Torrington, CT for a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m.  Burial will follow at St. Peter’s Cemetery, 236 East Pearl Road, Torrington. Military honors will be rendered in recognition of his service to the nation. Relatives and friends may call on Monday morning from 9:00 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. at Cook Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Litchfield Hills Bible Church, 379 Goshen Road, Torrington, CT 06790 or the Veterans Service Office, 140 Main Street, Torrington, CT 06790.
