Jean (Masciarelli) Lynn Ducatelli, 93, of Torrington, passed away peacefully Friday, June 2, 2023, at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital. She was the wife of the late Roy S. Lynn who passed away in 1982 and later Michael Ducatelli who passed away in 2015.
Jean was born October 21, 1929, in Orient, PA. She was the daughter of the late Torello and Angeline (Zaccagnino) Masciarelli and moved to Torrington in 1943. She attended Torrington schools and was a graduate of The Connecticut Institute of Hairdressing in Hartford, CT. She was part owner of Terry & Joe’s Restaurant in Torrington for over 20 years. Later she was employed as an inspector for the Torrington Company until her retirement in 1987 when she then devoted her time to caring for her parents and grandchildren.
Jean’s greatest joy in life was her family. She loved each and every member of her large family and loved to cook for them. She was an outstanding cook preparing traditional Italian recipes as well as an amazing baker, known especially for her beautiful pies and delicious Italian Christmas cookies. Jean was a communicant of St. Peter’s Church and also a member of the Sullivan Senior Center where she enjoyed many fun bus trips.
She is survived by two daughters, Donna September (Albert) of Torrington and Lisa Cianciolo (Paul) of Harwinton, step-daughter Phyllis Craig (David) of Florida and step-son Michael Ducatelli (Ann) of Minnesota. She is also survived by one brother, Daniel Masciarelli of Torrington as well as 9 grandchildren – Alan September (Amy), Cara Lynn September, Daniel Cianciolo (Laura), Matthew Cianciolo (Erin), Steven Cianciolo (Nicole), Christopher Craig, Jameson Craig (Kaitlyn), Alyssa Shultz (Logan), Steven Ducatelli (Alison) as well as 13 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Jean was predeceased in death by brother David Masciarelli, sisters Mary Milanese and Josephine DiLaurenzio, sister-in-law Gina Masciarelli and brothers-in-law Joseph Milanese and Hugo DiLaurenzio.
The family would like to express our sincere thanks to the doctors, nurses, and techs on the 4th floor of CHH for their extreme kindness and care for our mom during this very difficult time. We would also like to thank the patient staff of the ER for their continued support and care during our many visits.
Funeral services will be Friday, June 9th. Family and friends may call Friday morning from 9:00 a.m. – 10:30 a.m. at Cook Funeral Home, 82 Litchfield St., Torrington. The cortege will leave the funeral home at 10:30 a.m. and continue to St. Peter Church, (St. John Paul the Great Parish) 99 East Main Street, Torrington, for a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow at New St. Francis Cemetery.
