It is with heavy hearts the family of Jane (Skibisky) Mastrogiovanni, 80, mourns her passing on October 31, 2026. Born to Stella and Charlie Skibisky on August 23, 1946, Jane was the older sister of Beth and brother Charles, Jr. who sadly died in infancy. In high school, Jane met the love of her life, Will, in English class sophomore year through the matchmaking efforts of English teacher, Mrs. Elizabeth Barrett. Will is forever grateful to Mrs. Barrett. They went on to enjoy 59 wonderful years of marriage.
Jane went on to St. Francis School of Nursing while Will joined the Air Force during Vietnam (1966). They married in 1967, and Bill Jr. was born in 1968 while the family was stationed in South Carolina. Soon after Jane became diabetic, which would be her nemesis for the rest of her life.
Following his service with the Air Force, Will returned from Thailand and Matthew was born in 1970. Jane worked at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital (CHH) in the Intensive Care Unit for the next 20 years and was profoundly proficient at her job.
When the Cardiac Rehabilitation Unit at CHH was established, she was recruited by her good friend and mentor, Laurene Wallace. Here again she was profoundly proficient at her job and was loved by her patients and co-workers.
Jane was a member of the Nurses Health Study from its inception and was very proud of her lifetime participation in it, knowing that her detailed work with the study went on to help many others. This even included her attending seminars in Boston where she reported findings back to CHH. She was also Treasurer of the North End Community Association for many years. Jane and Will’s yearly trips to Falmouth on Cape Cod became a family tradition that continues to this day.
On her Tuesdays, which was her day off, she would take one of her three beloved granddaughters for the day, spoil them, and give them back to their parents.
Jane was truly loved by all who knew her - how could you not - she was kind, generous, and loving to all - family, friends and patients.
She is survived by her husband Will, two sons, Bill, Jr. (Susanne) and Matthew (Cathie), granddaughters Lillian, Anna and Mia, sister Beth Landry, special cousins Bill Koldys (BK) and Holly Benton and longtime friend Gene Perregaux.
The family would like to give special thanks to her compassionate caregivers Michelle and Bridget and Dr. Shah of CHH.
