James P. Benedetto, 90, of Torrington, CT, peacefully passed away at his home on Saturday, April 24, 2021, surrounded by his family. He was the beloved husband of Rosalyn J. (Raduzzo) Benedetto for 67 years.
He was born April 21, 1931, in Torrington, CT, the son of the late Joseph and Gertrude (Corlatti) Benedetto. He served his country with the US Navy Sea Bees (MCB-4), from which he was honorably discharged in 1952. He was a member of the Operating Engineers Local 478 for over 50 years. He was employed by O&G Industries for over 42 years, where he operated heavy equipment.
In addition to his wife Rosalyn, he is survived by one son, James A. Benedetto of Torrington, one daughter, Rosemary White of Yuma, AZ; five grandchildren, James J. Benedetto, Matthew-Alleyn Benedetto, Nya Ann Rossi, Sabrina DeFazio, James Miklos; five great grandchildren, Misha DeFazio, Carrianna DeFazio, Tyler Shaffer, Katarina Benedetto, James T. Benedetto, one great-great grandchild, Lynden-J. Geyer Benedetto, as well as several nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, May 5, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Peter Church (St. John Paul the Great Parish) 99 East Main St., Torrington, CT. Entombment will follow at St. Peter Mausoleum with full military honors accorded. Relatives and friends attending funeral services are reminded to follow CDC recommendations for COVID prevention by social distancing and wearing protective face masks. There are no calling hours.
