Irene J. (Estok) Pollansky

Irene J. (Estok) Pollansky, 94, of Torrington, CT, passed away on Wednesday, July 17, 2019.  She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Charles H. Pollansky.

Irene was born April 17, 1925, in Bridgeport, CT, daughter of the late Frank and Elizabeth (Papp) Estok.  She was employed by Bridgeport General Electric and later Hamilton Standard.  While employed by General Electric, Irene was a member of the choir that would entertain disabled veterans while they were in the hospital.  Irene went on to become a Nurses Aide and worked at Crestfield Convalescent Home until her retirement.  She was extremely proud of her Hungarian heritage. She also enjoyed baking, dancing, especially the jitterbug, and was an avid UCONN Men’s basketball fan.

Irene is survived by one son, Chuck Pollansky of Billings, Montana; one daughter, Carol Gailey and her husband, Robert of Torrington; two grandchildren, Chase Pollansky and his wife, Miranda and Megan Pollansky as well as several nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by one brother, Frank Estok who died in World War II and two sisters, Marge Bona and Jennifer Posh.
