Howard Kreidwise entered into eternal rest on August 16, 2026, just shy of turning 100 years old. Born in Baltimore MD on September 23, 1926, he was the son of Jesse William Kreidwise Sr. and Delma (Conn) Kreidwise. He was the devoted husband to Barbara Anne Kreidwise and was happily married for 67 years before her passing in 2022. Howard proudly served his country in WW2 with the Army Air Force after being discharged, he then attended and graduated from Bradley University with a degree in engineering.
Howard retired from Industrial Risk Insurers as a Vice President in 1991. His community activities in Maryland and Connecticut ranged from Community Associate President to Cub Scout leader. He was active in the Torrington Chapter of the American Red Cross, serving as board chairman. He was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Harwinton Post 7008.
An active Communicant of the Lutheran faith, he served on congregational councils, chaired finance, call committees and stewardship committees.
An avid tennis player, he was the President of the Harwinton Racquet Club. Howard and the love of his life Barbara traveled the world, and the two of them attended all four major tennis tournaments in their retirement. His most treasured project, however, was the design and implementation of the church’s Garden of Memories. Even in his hundredth year, he would check in with Lisa and Jean about the garden and its financial health. He would relish the photos she sent to keep him updated. He leaves behind his beloved daughter Karol Denise Brzozowski her husband Richard and his caring son Karl Kreidwise and his wife Kate (Nicoll) along with 6 grandchildren: Alex and his wife Lauren, Kaylee and her husband Joe, Gabby, Liam and his wife Katie, Jake, and Maya and her fiancée Dylan Aviles. as well as adorable great grandchildren Malcom and Ronan. Howard was beyond proud of all of them and relished in their accomplishments. He was predeceased by his brother Jesse William Kreidwise Jr. in 2004. Howard had the unique talent of making sure you were the number one person in the room, asking many questions about you and your life. An inveterate charmer, he paired his quick wit and sharp sense of humor with a caring and gentle soul. He will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved him.
