Genevieve “Genia” Bobinski, age 98 of Torrington, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, January 25, 2022, surrounded by her family. She was the wife of the late Edward Bobinski, married for 60 years.
Genia was born February 21, 1923, in Stamford, CT, daughter of the late John and Sophie (Wilk) Augustyn. She was a graduate of Stamford High School, class of 1941. She had been a Torrington resident since 1953. She retired in 1986 from SNET (AT&T) after 31 years of service and was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America. She and her husband own and have been operating the Winsted Dairy Queen since 1953.
She is survived by her daughter, Beverly Clark and husband Ken of Florida, three sons, James Bobinski and wife Maura of Torrington, Stephen Bobinski and wife Heather of Simsbury, Thomas Bobinski and wife Dawn of Barkhamsted, and eleven grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Edward, two brothers, Fred Augustyn of Stamford, and Arthur Augustyn of Pennsylvania.
Burial will be private. There are no calling hours.
