Frank G. Lomento, Jr., 75, of Torrington, CT, peacefully passed away at his home on Sunday, July 4, 2021, with his wife by his side. He was the beloved husband of Carol (Carillo) Lomento for 55 years.
Frank was born January 25, 1946, in Torrington, CT, the son of the late Frank and Rose (Torizzo) Lomento. After graduating from the Torrington High School Class of 1963, he served his country and was a US Army veteran of Vietnam. He served as an Infantry Soldier with the 4th Infantry Division. He was wounded in Operation Attleboro in Tay Ninh Province. He received the Combat Infantry Badge, Purple Heart, Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, one silver OS Bar, and the Marksman Badge. He was a lifetime member of the D.A.V. American Legion 4th Infantry Division, 22nd Infantry Regiment, the Vietnam Triple Deuce, the Military Order of the Purple Heart, and of the Concordia Sons of Italy. He was employed by the US Post Office as a letter carrier until his retirement.
In addition to his wife Carol, he is survived by one son, Todd Lomento of Wethersfield, CT; Chloe his faithful companion and grand dog, as well as several family members.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, July 13, 2021, at 12:00 noon at Cook Funeral Home, 82 Litchfield St., Torrington, CT. Relatives and friends may call from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 12:00 noon. At the conclusion of the funeral services, final military honors will be accorded at Cook Funeral Home. Burial will be private.
